Soup & Solidarity
Feb 24, 2012 @ 06:00 PM
Soup & Solidarity returns! Join us for soup, solidarity and a
little known episode in American history. The documentary "The Clinton
12" tells the story of the first high school in the south to be
integrated after Brown v. Board of Education. Arbco member Kathy K. grew
up in a nearby town. She'll tell us about her experiences and lead the
discussion after the film.

Bread & Roses Potluck
Mar 18, 2012 @ 06:00 PM
Bring on the borscht! Pile on the pasta! Have at it with a hot dish! Join us for a potluck celebrating the 100th anniversary of the massive Bread & Roses strike in Lawrence, MA in 1912.
The strike succeeded in uniting unskilled immigrant workers from many countries speaking many languages. The workers lived on the edge of starvation even when the mills were in full production. They survived the strike with the support of unions in other parts of the country and through soup kitchens run out of the social halls of different ethnic groups.
Bring a dish representing your immigrant or native roots to a potluck supper. We'll provide bread & roses, too!
Singing and a brief presentation will follow supper. Arbco is fully handicap-accessible and we have a great indoor playspace for children. Everyone welcome!
