This past Saturday, Mark Dixon brought his film, Your Environmental Road Trip (YERT), to Arbco. The event attracted a number of members of the wider Madison community as well as some Arbcoteers, including our own filmmaker, Marc. The documentary followed Mark Dixon and his two friends, Ben and Julie Evans, as they travelled the country looking at a variety of ways Americans are changing patterns of resource use, while trying to minimize their own environmental impact. Emotionally, the film has its ups (e.g. people building solar-powered roads out of garbage) and its downs (the obligatory depressing survey of mountaintop removal), but it left viewers more energized than depressed. Thanks to Kathy, Arbco now has a copy of YERT for those who missed it last weekend.

The film was shown as the first in a double feature, followed by the newest version of Within Reach by Mandy Creighton and Ryan Mlynarczyk, which is focused on their journey to experience numerous sustainable communities around the country.
